CHP: Drifting driver to blame for Fulton Road crash
Headed north on Fulton Road Monday afternoon, a Santa Rosa driver drifted into oncoming traffic, starting a three-vehicle collision that sent two people to hospitals, according to the CHP.
At about 2 p.m. Richard Bishop, 75, crossed double yellow lines near D Street in the community of Fulton.
His 2006 Ford Expedition, headed north, sideswiped a 2003 GMC Yukon carrying a 37-year-old Santa Rosa man and two children.
Driver David Ramirez swerved to the right onto the shoulder.
Still going north in the southbound lane, Bishop then hit a Nissan Sentra broadside, according to a CHP press release. It carried driver Jose Rodriguez, 40, and Julio Sanabria, 43, both of Santa Rosa.
Sanabria was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with a major injury to one arm.
Rodriguez went to Sutter Medical Center, complaining of pain.
Ramirez and his children weren’t injured.
The CHP didn’t indicate if Bishop was injured. Alcohol wasn’t believed to be involved, the CHP said.
