Morrisette siblings one step closer to Junior Olympics

ELIDA — Fremont siblings Christian and Briana Morrisette each recently advanced to the Region 4 AAU National Qualifier for the 2014 AAU Junior Olympic Games after advancing from their respective age divisions at the district meet in Elida this past Saturday.

 

Christian, 14, was crowned the district long jump champion for the 15-16 age division with a winning jump of 5 feet, 2 inches. He was also fifth in the 100 and second in long jump to reach the regional meet in three events.

 

Briana, 10, finished fourth in the 100 and fourth in Long Jump in her 11-year-old division.

 

To advance to the 2014 AAU Junior Olympic Games from an AAU Athletics Regional Qualifier, an athlete needs to finish in the top eight in a running Event, top five in a field event, and/or the top four in a relay/multi-event.

 

The Junior Olympics will take place July 28-Aug. 2 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
