A U.S. Marine Veteran is hiking through Maryland to honor the victims, military, and first responders who have given their lives since September 11, 2001.

Lance Robinson is pulling a cart adorned with flag poles along the hike, a pilgrimage which he calls, “The 343 Memorial Hike.”

The hike began in May. Traveling from Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Pentagon, and The World Trade Center, Robinson has slept under bridges and in the woods along the route. Robinson passed through Frederick County on Tuesday and hopes to reach the Pentagon by Friday.

“I feel it is my duty, and I just want to serve my country once more,” Robinson said. “I’m too old to go to warm so I do what I can.”

During the past decade, Robinson has hiked through 32 states to raise awareness for first responders and the military.
