Texas film institute seeks home movies
The Texas Archive of the Moving Image will bring its Texas Film Round-Up to Amarillo beginning Thursday.
The Austin-based archive will digitize Texas-related films and videos for free from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Amarillo Public Library downtown branch, 413 S.E. Fourth Ave.
While there, visitors can view an exhibition on Texas Panhandle film history and preservation and watch archival footage of Amarillo and the region.
To qualify for free digitization, participants must be willing to donate a digital copy of their family films and videos to TAMI’s archive.
Activities continue Friday with a screening of historic footage of the region, including a 1916 Charles Goodnight film, 1930s Dust Bowl coverage and more at Tascosa Drive-In, 1999 Dumas Highway.
