ABOUT 60 horses will grace the Aviva race course next week for the Sabeto Valley Horse Races.

 

A total of 12 races will be run making it one of the biggest carnivals in recent years.

 

The Aviva race course track is 1000metres which is the minimum international standard.

 

The track bend radius is 265m which is more than the minimum requirement of 135m.

 

Race organiser Livai Tora said they expected horses from Sigatoka Valley, Cuvu, Uciwai, Nadi, Sabeto, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki to participate.

 

Tora said the longest race would be 2000m.

 

“It will be a carnival atmosphere,” he said.

 

“This will be the biggest race of the year. We are expecting more than 60 horses from the Western Division.

 

“There will be attractive prizes. The track is of international standard and can accommodate a total of seven horses during each race.”

 

The Sabeto Valley Horse Races will be held in Wailoko, Nadi on Saturday week. Alcoholic beverages and food will be on sale. Other entertainment will also be provided.
