By Di Lewis
WINGHAM Women’s Bowling Club’s match committee decided to hold a different event for this week, one in which the majority of players find exciting to play – versatile triples event and all players in their team get to play different positions.
Plus we had three games of pairs.
The results for the week were versatile event F Leadbeater, E Holden, M Hollebone d J Nash, P Weir, B Kennett.
Pairs: G Bell, J Pedron d P Marcus, J Thorburn; K Carlton, T Rushworth d C O’Donnell, N Platt. Winners with the smallest margin: Karen Carlton and Tina Rushworth with a +6.
Tomorrow the ever popular Greg Owen Auto Repairs open triples will be held with a full field plus some reserves hoping for a game.
Morning tea is at 8.45am – two games of 15 ends, lunch.
Winners of these two games then play to the yard stick to decide the winners.
Saturday morning bowls with Narelle starts at 9am in mufti dress (casual and flat soled shoes). Beginners – we would love to teach you the game of lawn bowls with this friendly bunch.
Sunday, June 22 – nominated mixed pairs, $15 each player includes barbecue. A total of $300 in cash prizes for first, second and third.
Time is marching on for this event, so put some thought in as to who you would like to be in a team. Please enter your name on the sheet provided in the bowls office. It does make it easier to run this event with the numbers.
See you on the green.
