How to keep your skin smooth and rash-free

The rainy season brings its share of skin problems with it. You might find yourself suffering from red and itchy skin, bumps and rashes. This could be caused by allergies, eczema and excessive sweating among other things. Here’s how to keep your skin itch-proof.

Apple cider vinegar is very useful in dealing with allergic reactions, dry and itchy skin. Apply a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the itchy area. It is anti-septic, anti-fungal, balances the acidity of the skin and increases moisture.

Baking soda is a great home remedy for itchy skin rashes. Dissolve a cup of baking soda in a tub of cool water and soak in it for half an hour.

Oatmeal baths relieve the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis with its moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties. Add a couple of cups of oatmeal powder to lukewarm water and soak for half an hour.

Olive oil, rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, moisturises, heals and promotes skin renewal. It also reduces itching.

Apply fresh aloe vera on the affected area and leave for 20 minutes to reduce redness and itching. Aloe vera is anti-inflammatory, emollient, antibacterial and antifungal.

Neem has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-irritant, antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial propertiesIt is used I treating a host of skin conditions like rashes, eczema, scabies, acne and infections. Use in the form of paste, soap and oil mixed with carrier oil.

Coriander is an Ayurvedic remedy for rashes and itchy skin. Apply a paste of coriander leaves to your skin and wash off after half an hour. Drinking fresh coriander juice also helps.
