MP breaks for a cuppa to help ovarian cancer
TOTTENHAM MP David Lammy made time for tea to help launch a campaign to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
Mr Lammy joined fellow Labour MP Sharon Hodgson, chairwoman of the all-party parliamentary group on ovarian cancer, at the launch of the Make Time for Tea 2014 campaign.
They joined Robert Marsh, chief executive of the Eve Appeal, to help the charity publicise its fundraising and awareness month, which starts on March 1.
People will be encouraged to support the ovarian cancer charity by staging a tea party.
Mr Lammy said: “I lost my dear mother and grandmother to ovarian cancer and so am delighted to help The Eve Appeal to support this important event and ask as many people as possible to host a tea party to raise awareness and funds to fight this devastating disease.”
And Ms Hodgson added: “For many years I have campaigned on behalf of the 3,500 women who die each year from ovarian cancer.
“I urge you all to support The Eve Appeal’s campaign and hold a tea party with your friends or colleagues. Have fun and make a difference.”
