Romanian gymnasts Larisa Iordache and Diana Bulimar bring home medals from Doha

Romania’s Larisa Iordache continued her winning streak at the Doha World Challenge Cup in Qatar’s capital city, winning gold on the balance beam and floor exercise last week.

According to the competition website, Iordache showed clean exercises on both beam and floor to complete a near sweep of the event titles in Doha.

The 17-year-old Romanian also won vault during the first day of finals.

Her teammate Diana Bulimar, who underwent knee surgery last fall, also performed well, taking silver on floor (14.300) and finishing fourth on beam (13.650) with a watered down exercise.

The bronze medal on the floor went to Canadian Isabela Onyshko.

Meanwhile, on the beam, silver went to Aussie Mary-Anne Monckton and bronze to Vietnam’s Thi Ha Thanh Phan.

The 7th Artistic Gymnastics FIG Challenge Cup, held March 26-28, gathered more than 200 gymnasts from 37 countries.
