Trailer Released For Upcoming ‘The Crew’ Driving Game

Ever wished a racing game would offer the whole United States to travel around?Upcoming title The Crew does just that, and the game’s developer has just released the latest trailer before its as-yet unconfirmed release.

Essentially, The Crew differs from several other racing games in two key areas. One is its emphasis on building communities and racing with friends, whether virtual in the game’s story mode or real, in the game’s online modes. The “drive to earn reputation” story is unlikely to be too original, but the emphasis on team effort means it should be a less of a lone pursuit than some other racing games.

The game’s other selling point is the vast, open-world map to explore. Its representation of the U.S. may be a fair way from geographically accurate–the Rocky Mountains seem to occupy most of the central states, on the in-game map–but the game’s developers have replicated the look and feel of various locations throughout the country–from the hustle and bustle of cities to twisty mountain roads and desert plains.

Road and off-road racing is represented–highlighted in the latest video–and cars can be modified to the tracks and terrain ahead of you–there’s little to stop you turning a Porsche Cayman into an off-roader. Throw in stunning graphics, great sound effects and arcade-style action and it could be well worth waiting for. Its February 2014 release date may have slipped, but PlayStation 4 and Xbox ONE players can expect the game later this year.
