It’s no secret Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace are BFFing harder than Taylor Swift and whoever Taylor Swift is BFFing today. But if you thought Gags was morphing into the Don in those Versace ads that came out last November, the unretouched versions will make you double-take.
I don’t think Gaga looks terrible in the unretouched pictures, and if I’d never seen the final ones I wouldn’t even be typing this right now. But side-by-side it’s disturbing how “normal” the love child of Human Barbie and radioactive Mr. Burns appears. We’ve long been aware that Photoshop is making models basically obsolete, but it seems the whole point here was to make Lady Gaga look as much like Donatella as possible — why not chill on the airbrush tool? I also find it bizarre that they’ve put her in a straw-colored wig before photoshopping the crap out of said wig to turn it white. We’re living in a truly weird world.
