Ex-Bulldog Stapleton on 2014 USA Roster

Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) standout Tim Stapleton was one of 15 players named on Tuesday to the United States roster ahead of the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships.

 

Stapleton has spent the past two seasons playing in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), that after the former Bulldog has played parts of four NHL seasons with three different teams, totaling 19 goals and 18 assists in 118 games played.

 

Stapleton spent four years with UMD, from 2002-06, helping the team in 2004 to the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals. He finished his career with 63 goals and 89 assists in 162 games played for the Bulldogs.

 

The 2014 IIHF World Championships are set to be held May 9-25 in Minsk, Belarus.
