Winter Hates Asthma And Here’s Why…
Asthma is a condition which causes inflammation in the airways. Outside allergens and stimuli set off an asthmatic attack and if it’s left untreated and the asthmatic doesn’t react then it can be potentially fatal as airways may close up and render the patient unable to breathe.
Generally when an asthmatic has suffered from their condition for a long period of time they’ll learn which specific things set it off. They can then plan round this either by avoiding those things entirely or by making sure they’ve got the necessary equipment to counter an attack should one occur. This equipment generally comes in the form on an inhaler which most people will have seen before .The inhaler contains corticosteroids which counter the inflammation and prevent a fatal blockage of the airways.
Doctors have been warning recently of the affects the winter months can have on asthma sufferers and their condition. Inhaling cold air is a cause of asthma attacks and long exposure to cold claimed can actually raise the chances of getting illnesses like the cold or the flu. These bugs and virus’ aren’t massively dangerous on their own but when you couple them with asthma they can become very damaging.
In these cases there’s not much that can be done but treat the condition and wrap up warm. Like most things the real danger comes from the lack of knowledge and asthmatics who expect to suffer complications and take that extra set of precautions will find that their danger in minimal.
