Tips To Deep Clean Your Kitchen

A daily routine is great for keeping on top of your kitchen cleaning but when your kitchen needs a little extra help, you might want to consider a deep clean.

The first step is to choose a day when you have plenty of time and don’t need to cook throughout the day. Make sure you have all the cleaning products and accessories you will need. Then work your way through the kitchen methodically, tackling one area at a time.

Before you begin

It’s much easier to deep clean your kitchen if it is free from clutter. So, before you begin, take a trip around the room and tidy away as much as possible. Make sure food is stored before you begin to ensure that it doesn’t become contaminated by cleaning products. Then take gadgets or appliances from your worktops and store them elsewhere. Once your worktops are completely clear, you’ll be able to start cleaning.

Start at the top

A good rule of thumb when deep cleaning any room is to start at the top and work down. So begin by dusting away any cobwebs from your ceiling, give extractor fans a clean, and dust the tops of cupboards. Next, move onto your walls and worktops, giving them a good wipe with your favoured cleaner. If you want to use a natural product in place of chemical cleaners, a simple mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water works well. Pay particular attention to those areas where grease builds up such as around the cooker.

Worktops

With your worktops free from clutter, it should only take a few minutes to give them a good clean. Make sure you get right into the corners where crumbs can often collect.

The fridge

A deep clean is a great opportunity to give your fridge a clear out. Check all products for expiry dates and throw away anything that’s past its best. Then take everything else out of the fridge for a few minutes while you wash and dry the interior, paying attention to grooves in the shelves and door compartments.

The sink

Sinks and draining boards need regular cleaning to keep them sparkling. If you have a stainless steel or porcelain sink, a great way to give it a deep clean is to sprinkle baking soda onto the surfaces with a little water to create a paste. Then use a cloth to remove grime and stains. Finally, give the sink a good rinse with fresh water to remove all traces of the baking soda before drying.

The floor

Once you’ve tackled all the other areas in your kitchen, you can give the floor a good sweep and mop. Now your kitchen will be sparkling and ready for use once more!
