Sexual health campaign starts
The Calderdale Health Improvement team, which is part of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, are supporting local pharmacies in Calderdale to promote a sexual health campaign, raising awareness of the importance of safe sex and the help available to local people.
During February pharmacies throughout Calderdale will be offering people who would like it, advice and support about any issues connected to their sexual health, said a campaign spokesman.
They will also be highlighting that people can get Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC), more commonly known as the morning after pill, from their local pharmacist.
Catherine King, a health improvement practitioner with the team explained, “The health improvement team, in partnership with Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire have been working with local pharmacists, providing them with resources and support so that they can confidently offer sexual health advice.
“Pharmacists can offer a quick and easy service providing advice about a range of sexual health topics, including the provision of EHC and chlamydia testing. Their help is free and confidential so people can be confident they can ask them any questions they have.”
Pharmacies are supported to deliver this campaign by the health improvement team in partnership with Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire and Calderdale Council.
