The patient-doctor relationship is one of the most basic interactions within healthcare and dates back to the beginning of the medical profession. While this relationship may remain constant, the world and the technology surrounding it does not. Medical advancements and technological innovations have forever changed the institute of medicine and now technology may influence the relationship between a physician and his/her patients. These changes are not necessarily bad, but will require a different perspective and approach for both patient and doctor. The internet has changed the face of healthcare in many ways. For the physician and their patients, the access to large amounts of medical and health related information has great influence on the frequency and quality of interactions between patient and doctor. Patients will often take a number of steps towards diagnosing their own conditions online before going in to see their doctor, typically coming with lots of questions gathered before their appointment.
