Hunt for man who robbed blind woman




POLICE are hunting a man who robbed a blind woman as she walked home with a cane at Padstow.

 

About 5.10pm on Monday, a 23-year-old woman got off a train at Padstow Railway Station and started walking south along Davies Rd.

 

She was approached from behind by a man who stole her bag which contained her phone, wallet and an online player/recording device used by visually impaired people to download talking newspapers and other audio files.

 

The woman was not injured during the incident and returned home where she called police.

 

Witnesses told police they saw a man walking south along Davies Road and a few metres behind the woman shortly before the incident

 

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, 20-30 years old with short brown hair, a trimmed beard and wearing a grey hooded jumper and black pants.

 

Anyone who witnessed the stealing or has information about the identity and whereabouts of the man is asked to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers.
