A Wyoming student consumed more than the recommended serving of a marijuana cookie before jumping to his death from the balcony of a hotel in Denver, police say. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Levy Thamba Pongi, 19, is stated in police reports to have eaten a little over one cookie of four that had been legally purchased by his girlfriend, despite a store clerk telling the girlfriend that the cookie should be cut into six pieces, and consumed a piece at a time.

Pongi’s friends reportedly attempted to constrain him after he began acting strangely. According to police reports, Pongi stated to his friends, “This is a sign from God that this has happened, that I can’t control myself… It’s not because of the weed.”

Cookies from the shop where the marijuana cookies were purchased were confiscated by Denver police after the incident to test for THC. Tests revealed that they were within the required limits outlined by state law.
