A person out mushroom hunting in Clinton found a dead body in a wooded area.

According to the Clinton Police Department, on Sunday, April 27, 2014 shortly before 11 a.m., someone out mushroom hunting north of 36^th Avenue North and McKinley Street discovered a body in the woods.

“The victim’s remains were removed from the area and will be sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted,” said Operations Commander Captain William Greenwalt of the Clinton Police Department.

The person’s identity is being withheld while authorities positively identify the body and notify family.
