Rowing club moves practice run

BUFFALO N.Y. (WIVB) – Sunday, the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Club was supposed to host a high school rowing scrimmage, but icy waters pushed them to move it to a spot off Ohio Street in Buffalo.

Students from Canisius, Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Aquinas High School of Rochester were hoping to face each other in a friendly competition in the canal today.

It’s an important tune-up for an upcoming showdown.  “For the kids it means they could compete against one another in scrimmage, and just see how they’ll do against one another, to get their cadence together,” said Lee Federiconi, a parent.

Next weekend the schools will row in a state tournament in Saratoga.
