Last-minute shopping for gifts

PETALING JAYA: Students were seen busy with last-minute shopping a day before Teachers Day.

With budget constraints, the students found outlets like Romantika Home Decor in Amcorp Mall here useful in their array of nice and affordable items for that special teacher.

Dayang Syakirah Ainin and her friends from SMK Assunta were at Romantika yesterday browsing for presents for their favourite teachers.

“I don’t come to Romantika often but it’s one of the shops that sells Teachers Day stuff. Its products are really cheap and not too bad,” she said as she browsed through the varied range that comprised cups, photo frames, aprons, bags and others.

Her school, said the 17-year-old, would be having a big celebration today, with performances and gifts from school clubs and students for their teachers.

“I feel that celebrating the day and giving our teachers gifts is important. It shows our appreciation and sincerity towards our teachers,” said Dayang Syakirah.

Romantika’s supervisor, who wished to be called Aunty Chiang, said students had been going to her shop every year to get Teachers Day mementos.
