NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) – One northeast Nebraska man has set up a fundraiser to help his friend continue to hunting well into the future.
“Muscular Dystrophy is my life, hunting is my disease.” This motto created by 21-year-old Tyson Freeman has stuck with him, while also inspiring others. “It is so motivational. It motivates people because it is not negative. To hear that from someone who is battling a lifetime illness makes people open their eyes,” Tyson Freeman said.
Tyson was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 13, a disease that affects movement in a person’s shoulder muscles and hips, progressively gets worse overtime. Eight years since his diagnosis, Tyson needs the help of friends and family to help er every day tasks. Korbyn Freeman, Tyson’s Brother said, “I help him out with getting in the shower, getting dressed in the morning, getting his blind set up for hunting, getting his foaming stuff set up, cocking his crossbow.”
Since his diagnosis, Tyson has immersed himself in hunting. He reached out to Landon Ziemba, co creator of Buck Brothers Outdoors, nearly two years ago about being apart of the groups production crew. The two quickly bonded over their love for hunting and being outdoors. Ziemba said he doesn’t want the good times to end anytime soon.
Landon Ziemba, a Creator of Fundraiser said, ”I just got to thinking one day, what’s a way I can help Tyson continue hunting longer? Be with us longer to share our stories and all of our adventures together.”
Ziemba found out about the Action TrackChair, a wheel chair designed for the outdoors. With the cost of the chair ranging from $13,000 to $15,000, he set up a fundraiser for Tyson to help raise the money in early April. Within the first week, donations were starting to come in. Ziemba said, “Within the first week, we probably got about three thousand dollars worth.”
The fundraiser for Tyson’s new Action TrackChair is closing in on $7,000 with a goal of $13,000 needed to purchase it. The support has been humbling to Tyson. “There are amazing people out there, I tell you what. Once that started, I never would of thought that there would be so many caring people in this world that would be donating thousand of dollars,” Freeman said
