How to Give Your Skin a Helping Hand
It’s not only harsh weather and the effects of time that can lead to your skin drying out. In fact, just getting on with your daily life in your home could contain hazards that might prematurely age your skin.
Helping Hand
In the home, hands are generally exposed most of the time and can come into contact with lots of different agents that cause dehydration. There are many skin creams available to bring out wellness on facial skin – they can boost collagen and stimulate new cell growth. There are also topical creams for hands too, although giving them some extra protection could slow down the signs of time and keep hands looking younger for longer.
Glove Up
Household detergents, like washing up and laundry cleaner are designed to clean grime off your clothes, so when they come into contact with your skin they can strip away natural oils. As well as leading to dry skin, you could get allergies from some products. Wearing protective – latex free – gloves around these kinds of products could stop your wellbeing from being affected by dermatological problems. Even if you use gloves, make sure you moisturise hands to keep them supple.
Supplement your Skin
Gloves are an effective anti-ageing tool if your hands often come into contact with harsh detergents, but they can’t protect what’s not there. This is why it is so important to nourish your skin from the inside and out. Fish oils contain lots of rich nutrients that care for many parts of your body, from your brain to ageing skin cells. The fatty acids are good for general wellness as they can improve mood, concentration and moisturise skin on your hands.
Tone down products
Loading more chemicals on to your already detergent-sensitive skin could just dry your hands out further, so be careful when choosing lotions that contain a long list of preservatives, like alcohol. Sometimes it’s better to streamline your skin care and go for products with fewer ingredients. Some find petroleum jelly useful for example, as it acts as a good barrier against moisture loss and doesn’t contain lots of different products.
