Boys & Girls Club New Rochelle Breaks Record in Annual ‘Be Great’ Event
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The members of the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle celebrated the Annual “Be Great” event at Beckwith Pointe Club in Rye with a community cocktail party that honored the efforts of individuals and groups of New Rochelle for their support of the club.
Food, music, dancing and auction of exclusive items were part of the special evening. This year’s edition celebrates the good standing, commitment and charitable contributions of three honorees namely:
* The Warhit Family – A Great Family
* Beth Weinberg – A Great Educator
* PM Pediatrics – A Great Business
The event raised an all-time high $127,000 in charitable contributions, along with a record number of participants, a huge success according to Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Quay Watkins.
The overwhelming response and support, with the high demand of the event tickets, led the organizers to move the event from the Mercedes-Benz function hall to a larger venue at Beckwith Pointe.
“Be Great” co-chairpersons were Diane Luftig, Evelyn Gonzalez, Fran Nordquist and Jaime Deutsch.
Founded in 1929, the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle has been a safe haven and a positive environment for children and young people in the community. The club also helps to develop the values, skills and character of the kids, to help them cope-up and succeed in life.
The club has five locations in New Rochelle, with around 2,000 children staying for the various programs and helpful services — after school and during school holidays.
Candace Pinn, Boys & Girls Club board chairman said in a press release that plans for the “Be Great” 2015 edition has already been laid out. Advertising and sponsorship for next year can already be availed on early bird rates. The Boys & Girls Club is at 79 Seventh St.
