The NSW Department of Sport and Recreation is opening its complex at Lake Burrendong to the community Sunday to showcase the activities it offers.

Centre manager Carolyn Duggan said come and join us at our Open Day and have a go at some of our great activities such as rock climbing and the flying fox (9.30am to 12pm), enjoy a complimentary sausage sizzle lunch from 12 to 1pm or try archery, grass skiing or canoeing in the afternoon (until 3pm),” she said.

“If you prefer to do your own thing on the day, bring your swimmers, a picnic, or a fishing rod and line and try your hand at catching your own supper! Whatever you want to do, come along and see how you can do it here!”

The range of activities and accommodation available at the centre can make for a great family holiday. If you are looking for a lovely rural retreat for a larger scale family or corporate function, the centre can customise a highly-competitive package including catering and accommodation and a program of suitable activities for your group.

“There’s something for everyone with swimming, fencing and tennis, and for the more adventurous there’s abseiling, flying fox, grass skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking or the challenge ropes course,” Ms Duggan said.

The centre runs both school and holiday camps and is now taking bookings for the winter school holidays with special Mountain Biking and Hooked on Fishing camps in July to get kids away from their computer screens and experience outdoor activities.

Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre is located in Central Western NSW, just 30 minutes from Wellington and 60 minutes from Dubbo and Orange.
