Anxiety Attacks and what causes them

We’ve all been there haven’t we? We’ve all worried or obsessed about this or that and been unable to stop our minds from running away with themselves and imagining every worst case scenario. It’s astounding how pessimistic we’re capable of getting and just how dark our thoughts can turn when we’re kept in the dark or made to wait. An anxiety attack occurs when the anxious emotions start to feed into themselves. A vicious circle of fear and worry feeding fear and worry begins and it can be very difficult to break it.

What causes heightened levels of anxiety?

  1. Not Thinking Happy Thoughts – The brain is a biological super computer and it can only process the information you feed into it. If your mind is always on the negative side of things then all you’re giving your brain to work with are the darker aspects of life which will of course lead to darker thoughts. This spiral will perpetuate and can be a large cause of anxiety attacks.
  2. Failure to Eat Well – If you eat a lot of the wrong things and don’t make sure to keep a balanced diet then you’re likely to make yourself unwell in a whole multitude of ways. One of these is feelings of panic or anxiety which could lead to nasty consequences.
  3. Don’t Stress –  This one is a little more obvious, stress can cause anxiety as stressful situations have the capability of setting off our fight or flight reflex which will send our hearts racing and our eyes desperately searching for a way out. Stress causes all sorts of other medical issues and it’s recommended that, if you consider yourself a sufferer, you speak to your Doctor on ways of managing this issue.
  4. Misc – There are some other bits which can affect us and our levels of anxiety, things like electromagnetic stress from the overuse of mobile phones or computers or even a chiropractic misalignment could be causing your harm!
