OLYMPIC gold medallist Clint Robinson will run a series of clinics for paddle sports at Mackay Surf Club starting today and running until Sunday.

The gold medallist from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics is in town to promote his new business, Clint Robinson Performance and Excellence.

“I am actively trying to pass on knowledge, from nippers to the elderly,” Robinson said.

“The clinics are not just for the elite level, they cater for everyone. I want people to enjoy paddle sports, because that’s what I’ve been lucky enough to do.”

Robinson said he had seen a growing interest in paddle sports.

“It’s very enjoyable and non-impact. It’s great for any age to strengthen the core, back and arms.”

“A common misconception is that paddling doesn’t require legs, but paddling is a total body sport.”

At age 20, Robinson was an Olympic gold medallist. He went on to win further Olympic medals and world titles in kayaking.

Robinson credits his long career to taking care of himself. “I don’t eat anything that comes out of a can or a packet,” he said.
