A total of 67 colleges and universities field men’s teams and 103 institutions have women’s teams at the NCAA Division I level.
It’s played at the NCAA Division II and Division III tiers as well, plus at high schools and clubs across the nation. Then, there is Major League Lacrosse, played in eight cities, including Denver, which has its Outlaws, along with teams in cities like New York, Boston and Charlotte.
So, it’s no surprise that the 2014 Rocky Mountain State Games, the state’s largest sports festival, has reached out to include men’s Lacrosse among the 42 sports offered to athletes across the state and from states where similar games don’t offer the sport.
The competition will be held at the El Pomar Youth Sports Park and offer competition for teams in Elite, High School, Middle School and Youth divisions.
Middle School & Youth:
U11 (4th & 5th Grade)
U13 (6th & 7th Grade)
U15 (8th Grade; no high school playing experience)
Elite & High School:
Elite: 9th – 11th (Completed Spring 2014)
High School: 9th and 10th ONLY (Completed Spring 2014)
The Elite and High School divisions will compete Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13, while the Middle School and Youth competition is set for Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, the first weekend of State Games overall action.
Male athletes interested in playing in the inaugural Rocky Mountain State Games Lacrosse tourney can go to www.rockymountainstategames.org to sign up for Lacrosse or any of the 42 sports on the State Games card.
The bulk of the Games will take place July 18-20 and July 25-27, with Opening Ceremonies held of Friday night, July 25 in conjunction with the city’s popular Olympic Downtown Celebration in “America’s Olympic City” and the home of the United States Olympic Committee.
Some 1,100 Lacrosse athletes are expected to show up to take part in the Rocky Mountain State Games, with the competition hosted by Adrenaline.
General Information: The 9th annual Adrenaline Shootout Tournament is excited to launch in Colorado Springs this year with a two weekend extravaganza. Starting on Friday, July 11, 50 Elite and High School level teams will roll in to play a minimum of 7 games over the course of three days. Considered a recruiting event, the Elite & High School teams will play in front of over 80 collegiate coaches from around the country. In addition, players will have the opportunity to attend clinics and specialized chalk talks led by the Adrenaline NCAA collegiate coaching staff. Then, on Friday, July 18, 50 Middle School and Youth level teams take over the fields to compete for the second weekend’s championship. All Star teams will be selected from among all teams both weekends.
This year’s Shootout will be a part of the Rocky Mountain State Games – Colorado’s largest sport festival. The RMSG is open to athletes of all ages and skill levels with over 9,000 athletes competing in one or more of the 42 sports offered
