Fourth-place finish provides fuel for Glenbrook South girls lacrosse team
EVANSTON — About an hour after playing its final game of the year, the Glenbrook South girls lacrosse team remained seated in a circle in the southeast corner of Northwestern’s Lakeside Field.
As the title game approached Friday night, the Titans weren’t budging; an official had to come and ask them to move.
It’s hard to blame the team for wanting to savor its best-ever season. Glenbrook South finished fourth in the state after losing 12-6 to Hinsdale Central — the first time the Titans advanced past the quarterfinals.
“This is sweet,” Glenbrook South senior attacker Calie Nowak said as she looked back onto the field before exiting through the fence. “To play here was so great.”
A varsity player since her sophomore season, Nowak was on the squad that lost to Hinsdale Central 13-12 in the 2012 quarterfinals.
