NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A program to steer young people away from violence and drug abuse is coming to Niagara Falls.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Falls Boys and Girls Club are running Game Changers. Starting this Friday, Game Changers will help build character through a team sport – basketball.

Organizers say there are several reasons the program should get plenty of people to sign up.

DEA Resident Agent in Charge Michelle Spahn said, “Our trainers are elite. The speakers that we have are motivational speakers; [they] will really interest the kids. It’s really going to keep them coming back each and every week and that’s what we want, we want them to keep coming back each and every week.”

The eight-week program begins this Friday. Organizers hope to sign up nearly 100-boys and girls.
