SARASOTA, Fla. — A unique memorial is now up in Sarasota to remember a ballet dancer killed in a bicycling accident.

A “ghost bike” has been placed near the Ringling Museum, by the accident site where 20 year-old Pedro Pupa was killed earlier this month.

The bicycle is painted completely white and bears the message “R.I.P. Pedro Pupa”.

Members of the local non-profit group Village Idiots Cycling Club put up the memorial to remind drivers to share the road.

Pupa was bicycling on June 4th when a delivery truck turned in front of him. Police say the driver did not see Pedro. He is charged with violation of right away to a bicyclist.

Pupa was a member of the Sarasota Ballet for two years.
