Kendell Williams of Georgia captures heptathlon: NCAA track and field championships
Georgia freshman Kendell Williams went 20 feet, 1 1/2 inches in long jump Friday on the way to winning the women’s heptathlon at Hayward Field.
Williams scored 5,854 points over seven events. San Diego State’s Allison Reaser made up a considerable points gap during the final event, the 800 meters, to finish second with 5,836 points. Brittany Harrell of Florida took third one point behind Reaser.
Georgia swept the multi-event competition, as Maicel Uibo won the decathlon Thursday.
Through seven events, Texas A&M leads with 26 points, followed by Georgia with 20 and Oregon with 19.
