The 10th Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival is this weekend! The weather wasn’t great Friday morning, but Brian Hoyle from Hot Air Marketing was nice enough to give Cherish Lombard an up close and personal look look at his hot air balloon “Big Red!” Brian and his team are in town from North Carolina just for the festival. He says his love for hot air balloons started when he was a child and his wife’s passion is just as strong as his. Brian gave Cherish the chance to see what it’s like to be a hot air balloon pilot, from the ground.
Tanger Outlet Center is the title sponsor of the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival. Tom Knighten, Tanger Outlet Center General Manager, tells Cherish there’s a lot going on at this year’s festival! There will be balloon glows Friday and Saturday nights, you can see Disc Connected K-9 World Famous Frisbee Dog Shows, live music, arts and crafts, pet a baby alligator, get your face painted and enjoy a lot of festival food!
You can schedule a Hot Air Balloon Tethered Ride 7:30 and 9:00pm Friday or Saturday night. Hot Air Balloons carry passengers more than 25 feet in the air giving them a bird’s eye view of the festival. Hot Air Balloons are tied to ground using ropes while passengers experience a smooth ascent and descent in the balloon. Rides are $20 for adults or $15 for children 6- 12.
