The Nutley Historical Society will host “Jazz at the Museum,” an evening of live music featuring the Mike Luipersbeck Quartet on Saturday June 14. Doors open at 7 p.m. and there is a suggested donation of $10 per person, a portion of which goes to benefit the Nutley Historical Society.

The Luipersbeck combo has performed at the Nutley Museum many times and launched the Jazz at the Museum series, which began in 2008.  The set list features American Songbook standards and modern jazz tunes such as “Stolen Moments,” “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” “Besame Mucho,” “Once in a While,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” and “Blueberry Hill.”

Luipersbeck, the Clifton-based drummer, leads the group. Other band members include Peter Greco of New Milford on piano and seven-string electric guitar, Ron Naspo of Montclair on upright bass, and Michael Gabriele, also of Clifton, on tenor sax. Naspo is a renowned session player with an extensive resume and a former professor at Montclair State University.

The evening will include two sets of music. Complementary snacks, coffee and refreshments will be offered during the show’s intermission. In addition, Nutley Historical Society docents will be available to welcome guests to the upstairs museum display.
