WARRNAMBOOL’S Spotlight store is planning a purl-er of a party today.

Knitting needles will be click-clacking as the store holds its annual knitting party, which will this year produce trauma teddies for the Red Cross.

Craft team member Lyn Powell said the party was held each year, with a different group or organisation supported.

She said previous years had seen beanies knitted for the oncology unit at South West Healthcare and blankets for local nursing homes.

She said the teddies produced would be given to the Red Cross to then distribute to emergency rooms and ambulance crews to give to children who need comfort.

“We try to do something a little bit different each year,” she said.

“All people have to do is come along on Saturday. We will give them a ball of wool and they can make a start on their teddy and then take it home to finish it off.

“They just bring them back in when they are finished and we take them to the Red Cross.”

Ms Powell said she was hopeful members of the local Red Cross branch would be in store.

The knitting party will run from 10am till 3pm at the Spotlight store on Raglan Parade near Harvey Norman.
