Event features log rolling and other lumberjack events
LAKEWOOD — The Northwoods TimberFest will be held on June 27 to 29 at the Town of Lakewood Memorial Park in Lakewood.
The Great Lakes Timber Show from Escanaba, Michigan will offer four full performances on Saturday and three on Sunday. The Timber Show offers chainsaw carving, axe throwing, wood chopping, crosscut sawing and the always popular log rolling.
Great music and good humor will also be a major TimberFest ingredient. A Friday visit by Cheri Wogsland and Lester Bondowski will ensure a lively time especially when accompanied by The Ladies of the North. Lester Bondowski, Lester Bonde from his Milwaukee Polka days, was inducted into the World Congress Concertina Hall of Fame in 1984 and was named 2012 Wisconsin Band Leader of the Year.
On Saturday, the Big Cedar Bluegrass Band from West Bend will perform with the Timber Show and will stroll the grounds throughout the day.
On Sunday, Tyler Sawall, a concertina phenom from Clintonville and Michigan Tech University will add musical excitement to the Timber Show and will also stroll the grounds.
Additional features will include a logging camp for kids with hands-on lumberjack activities and an archery range. A shuttle to the nearby Holt & Balcom Logging Camp will allow visitors to relive the days of the past at the oldest existing logging camp in the country.
In addition to TimberFest entertainment, many vendors will exhibit equipment including RVs, campers and camping equipment, boats, fishing and hunting gear, resorts and campgrounds, arts and crafts and various services and specialty items. TimberFest will also include specialty food vendors.
