Stillwater City Council Considers Contract Amendment for Log Jam Festival
By: Jennie Olson
The city of Stillwater is working out the final details of the summer festival that will replace Lumberjack Days this year.
Stillwater Log Jam organizers will meet with the Stillwater City Council on Tuesday to approve part of a new contract; they want to give less of the money made to the city so they can plan ahead for next year.
The current contract says that 35 percent of the gate receipts from Friday and Saturday night concerts have to go to the city to cover public safety expenses that aren’t already covered by the initial festival payment.
An amendment would mean the money would instead go into a reserve account to provide money to pay the city’s costs, and any extra money leftover would be used for the 2015 festival.
The city council is expected to approve the contract amendment.
The festival will be July 18-20.
