Mid-State Mavericks Tryouts

 

July 22-24: The Mid-State Mavericks travel baseball organization will hold tryouts for the fall 2014/spring 2015 seasons on July 22-24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Central Dauphin High School. Cedar Crest camp

 

June 16-19: The Cedar Crest Baseball Summer Camp will be held for players entering grades 3-9 on June 16–19 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Cedar Crest High School varsity baseball field. Coached by/sponsored by head coach Ryan White and his assistants and the varsity and JV players, the cost is $85 by the registration date, $95 after the registration date and $75 if player also attended the 2014 Winter Clinic. Warehouse: The Warehouse baseball facility, located at 225 S. 7th St. in Lebanon has two full batting cages for baseball and softball, clay MLB pitching mounds and softball pitching mats, a few hitting training devices and a baseball pitching machine and softball pitching machine. Also professional lessons from Doc Malloy (hitting), a New York Yankee scout, and Shawn Barton (pitching) of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Instruction

 

Learn from the Groffs: Professional baseball player Eric Groff and former Cedar Crest head coach Chris Groff are teaming up to provide quality baseball instruction for players of all ages. The focus of the instruction is to help each player become a fundamentally sound baseball player in all areas of the game. Instruction in the areas of defense, hitting and pitching are offered. Elco Boys’ Camp

 

June 23-26: The Eastern Lebanon County Boys’ Basketball Camp will be held from Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26. The first is for all boys entering grades 3-8 and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the high school. Boys entering kindergarten through second grade can attend a camp from 9-10:30 a.m. on the same days at the Intermediate school. Each boy will receive a camp T-shirt and a basketball. Instruction will be provided by the Elco coaching staff and players. The cost for the camp for boys in grade 3-8 is $75, and the cost for boys in kindergarten through second grade is $35. June 23-27: The Cedar Crest girls’ basketball team will hold its annual basketball youth camp for female players entering grades 2-8 on Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at Cedar Crest High School. Lebanon Catholic Girls’ camp

 

July 14-18: The Lebanon Catholic Girls’ Basketball Camp will be held July 14-18 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (bring a lunch; drink is provided) at Lebanon Catholic School. Girls in grades 2-9 (for ’14-’15 school year) are eligible to attend. Cost is $75, which includes a camp T-shirt. The camp includes offensive and defensive fundamental skill work, team competition each day, 3-on-3 tournament and various contests (prizes awarded). Palmyra Summer Camp

 

June 16-19: The Palmyra Rec Summer Basketball Camp (formally known as Berman’s Palmyra Basketball Camp) will be held along with Palmyra high school graduates and Berman’s camp alumni Stacey Patrick and Ashley Kohl from June 16-19 at the Palmyra Area High School Gym. The camp has been revamped and will now include new age breakdowns: Kindergarten and first grade will attend camp from 9 a.m. to noon for a fee of $65 per child for PASD residents and $75 per child for non-PASD residents. Second through sixth graders will attend camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a fee of $115 per child for PASD residents and $125 for non-PASD residents. July 7-10: The Lebanon Catholic boys’ basketball program will hold a summer basketball camp July 7-10 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for all boys entering grades 4 through 9. Phillies at Nationals

 

Sunday, Aug. 3: A bus trip to see the Phillies play at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., is planned for Sunday, Aug. 3. The cost is $70 per person, which includes a seat in section 135, transportation by deluxe motorcoach, driver’s tip and a chance to win raffle prizes. Lebanon County Special Olympics: The Lebanon County Special Olympics is looking for soccer coaches for its program. This is a volunteer position. The season runs from the end of July until the start of November. Experience preferred, but we will provide training. Practices and competitions are on weekends. Hershey: Derry Township School District (Hershey High School) has an immediate opening for a high school varsity head field hockey coaching position. The successful candidate will head coach the high school field hockey program The position is effective upon school board approval for the 2014-15 school year. Campers will have an opportunity to meet new people and learn the fundamentals of field hockey. Cedar Crest Pool

 

Swimming: The John W. Davis Natatorium at Cedar Crest High School is available to district residents for lap and open swims when not in use by school groups. Fee per use is $2, payable to attendant; free to students and district employees presenting valid ID badges and to district residents with Gold Cards or athletic season passes. The pool is closed when school is not in session. The monthly schedule is posted on the district website on the Community tab under “Events & Activities” at clsd.k12.pa.us/community.cfm.

Lifting: The weight room at Cedar Crest High School is open for use by community members ages 18-plus Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. and Fridays from 5-7 p.m. Fee per use is $2, payable to attendant; free to district employees presenting valid ID badges and to district residents with CLSD Gold Cards or athletic season passes. Northern Lebanon Midgets Signups

 

July 17, 19: The Northern Lebanon Midget Football Association will hold walk-up registration for the 2014 fall football season on Thursday, July 17, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Northern Lebanon High School gym lobby. Northern Lebanon Itty Bitty Signups

 

July 17, 19: The Northern Lebanon Midget Football Association is sponsoring a new level of football called the Itty Bitties. This is a non-contact introductory level of football for children aged 3-5. Walk-up registration for the 2014 season will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Northern Lebanon High School gym lobby. June 23-26: Falcon Pride Youth Football Camp will be held June 23-26 from 9 a.m. to noon on the Cedar Crest High School campus for youth in grades 3-9. Participants will learn proper techniques and forms for their offensive and defensive positions. No prior football experience or team participation required. Lebanon Valley Midgets

 

Signups: The Lebanon Valley Midget Football League will hold signups on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at various sites around the county. The program is open to players ages 7-12 as of Sept. 1, 2014. Midgets is for ages 10-12 with a weight limit of 145, and ponies and pee wees are for ages 7-10 with a weight limit of 120. Jared Odrick Golf Classic

 

Saturday, June 21: The second annual Jared Odrick Golf Classic will be held Saturday, June 21, at Iron Valley Golf Club, beginning at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to Operation Giveback, which provides support to deployed military and their families, disabled veterans, law enforcement, firemen and first responders, as well as Autism Speaks. The event has netted $700,000 and provided scholarships to 100 Lebanon High School graduates. This year, five more will receive college scholarship.
