Rodeo brings in hundreds
SANDS TWP — Hundreds of people were out at the Marquette county Fairgrounds on Sunday for the 9th Annual Great Lakes Rodeo.
This year more than 90 riders competed throughout the weekend.
Some of the competitions included the queen court contest, bull riding, and barrel racing to name a few.
It brings riders from across the Midwest to participate and this year around 3,000 spectators.
“Some good stiff competition. There’s been some really good rides yesterday. I know we had a few qualifying rides. Now in our queen in court contest I surely would hate to be the judge in that contest because so many pretty ladies they did amazing work,” said Jesie Melchiori, Great Lakes Rodeo. M The rodeo raises money for Marquette county youth.
Throughout the last eight years they have been able to raise more than $20,000.
This year they’re looking at around $5,000.
