How to gain a six pack in six easy steps

It’s the dream of most men to have toned, muscular abs and a well-developed six pack. However, for many, this dream is unrealised due to the sheer amount of hard work that it takes to develop this area of the body. Both exercise and your diet play a big part in achieving this goal, as does a lot of dedication – this isn’t something which will happen overnight. The easiest way to gain a six pack is to remove the fat from the stomach area and build stronger abdominal muscles – here are some ways to make this task a little easier.

Up your cardio workouts

One of the best forms of exercise for building a toned body is cardio, as in order to see the muscle definition you first need to remove the fat from that area. This is where cardio comes in – exercises such as jogging, cycling, rowing and dancing are great for an overall workout which will burn fat and build a more toned physique.

Change your diet

Any healthy lifestyle requires a nutritious diet, so make sure that what you are feeding your body is good for your wellbeing and will give you the vitamins and minerals you need. Whenever you eat, try not to eat massive portions as this can lead to fat being stored in the body, removing all the hard work you have done in the gym. Aim to eat small portions of food every two to three hours to keep your metabolism working effectively.

Eat the most important meal of the day

Everyone knows that breakfast is an important part of a healthy routine. Although many people skip this meal, mistakenly thinking it will save them calories, it is actually quite a harmful thing to do to your body. Skipping breakfast causes the body to store fat, as well as limiting the amount of energy you have throughout the day.

Lift weights

Here’s where the hard work comes in – once you have begun a regular cardiovascular workout, it’s time to start building more defined muscles. Weight lifting is the best way to do this, as it forces the muscles to work hard and strengthens them in the process.

Up your water intake

It is important to drink around 2.2 litres of water every day in order to keep the body hydrated and working effectively. Although this may seem like a lot, you are able to get your daily quota through other drinks such as tea, coffee or juices – just try to avoid soft drinks and fizzy drinks as these contain a lot of sugar.

Increase the number of muscle-building exercises

The final step to building a six pack is to increase the number of exercises you do which increase the muscle definition – crunches, static holds and jackknife sit-ups are all great options.
