Innovations Lead to Better Standard of Living for Diabetics

Technology changes everything and in recent years, with the advent of smart phones and apps we’ve seen a whole new kid of innovative and user-friendly program rise to prominence. For the major diseases in the world a lot can seem very static. Things like cancer and heart disease aren’t manageable and require treatment, though there are small advances in this treatment from time to time the core concepts tend to stay pretty much the same. Diabetes is very different as it is manageable and some people live with the condition for almost their whole lives. A whole new era of technology has brought about all sorts of fantastic bits of kit which make diabetics lives easier every single day!

Smartphone Apps

The smartphone is revolutionary not because it can do something which nothing else could but because it can do so many things and it’s so portable. Most people have one and if you take any handful of those people you’ll find a massively diverse set of uses for smartphones, no one will use it in quite the same way as anyone else will.
A range of diabetes monitoring apps have been developed in recent years. Some are simply electronic log books in which you can record any pertinent data but others are much more high tech. There’s even a diabetes app which links with your blood-sugar monitor and lets you download readings straight into your phone for later perusal!

Blood Glucose Meters

It wasn’t that long ago that diabetics had to rely on urine samples to get five hour old information about their blood-sugar levels. Now with just the prick of a finger they can get an immediate look at their level of blood-sugar without having to weight. This means it’s easier for them to monitor their health and manage their diabetes!
