Smokers often claim that having a cigarette after a fight is the perfect way to relieve stress. Unfortunately what it really means is that you’re getting stressed from the relationship and you have to resort to bad habits to deal with it.
Do you get drunk after a fight?
Like smoking, drinking alcohol in excess is another temporary way to reduce stress. If you or your partner have been binge drinking to avoid your relationship issues then it’s time to realise that drinking won’t help relationship problems, it will only make them worse.
Do you drive carelessly?
It can be very dangerous when couples argue while one is driving a car. Rash driving is one of major side effects of stress and arguments. Try to avoid arguments in the car if you can – it will only make the road a more dangerous place for you and other drivers.
Do you refuse to eat food?
If you sleep on an empty stomach instead of eating after a fight it can be a sign that stress in the relationship is really getting to you. Not eating will only cause more problems and will not solve anything.
Does your relationship lack intimacy?
When you’re stressed due to fighting with your partner, your love life will likely lose a lot of its lustre. Think about how regularly you get intimate with your partner and ask yourself if it is a lot less than it used to be. If that’s the case it shows that you’re under too much stress.
