How To Make Your Personality And The World More Beautiful

Did you know that you can perform an easy exercise that will shape your personality for the better, and make the world a better place – simply by thinking about it? Well, you can, and it all comes down to the way your brain is wired.

Time to rewire your brain

Throughout your brain messages are passed from one cell to another via synapses, which are separated by an empty space known as the synaptic cleft. Whenever you have a thought, one synapse shoots a chemical across the cleft to another synapse, building a bridge over which an electric signal can cross, and carrying the information you’re thinking about. Every time this electrical charge is triggered, the synapses grow closer together in order to decrease the distance the electrical charge has to cross. In a form of evolution, the brain is rewiring its own circuitry, to make it more likely that the proper synapses will share the chemical link and make it easier for thoughts to trigger. In essence, your thoughts reshape your brain, and create your ‘reality’.

Your brain is always doing this, consistently morphing with every thought. The synapses you’ve most strongly bonded together (by thinking about more frequently) come to represent your personality: Your intelligence, skills, aptitudes, and most easily accessible thoughts.

Choose positivity.

Every time you have a thought, you have a choice in how you react to that thought. Most can be categorised as: Love or fear; acceptance or regret; dislike or desire; optimism or pessimism.

Due to the way the brain works, the more times you associate positive emotions with thoughts, the more often these synapses will fire. And by associating positivity emotions with every thought, you are shaping your own personality and emotional mindset. As you practise this, you move those ‘positive’ synapses closer and closer together, to the point where any synapses associated with sadness, regret, pessimism, fear, desire, melancholy, depression, have a smaller chance of triggering. As a result, your default state becomes one of positive optimism and appreciation.

Of course, it’s impossible to completely eradicate negativity from your consciousness, but exercise this enough and the world will become a more beautiful place. Moreover, so will you. People will want to spend more time with you and you’ll also find yourself being happier, more of the time.
