Three reasons why you must remove makeup
24 hours in a day just does not seem enough sometimes, right? With busy days, you just want to go home and crash into your bed. It turns out that removing your makeup is one important step you just cannot miss. You would have heard that sleeping with your makeup is harmful for your skin. Do you know why? Here we explain what happens to your skin when you sleep with your makeup on
Pimples
If you leave the makeup on during the night, it will mix with the natural oil secretions of the skin and the dust and grime the skin would have collected and clog your pores. And that’s never good news! Clogged pores cause pimples and breakouts and in extreme cases may cause skin infections.
Dry and dull skin
Makeup that has been left over night will not allow the skin to breathe. It acts as a barrier between your skin and the environment. Your skin needs to be clean during the night, which is when the skin repairs and regenerates itself. The makeup that has been left overnight may also settle into fine lines and creases that may cause you to look dull in the morning.
Makeup contains chemicals
Depending on your skin type, you choose makeup that suits sensitive skin or dry skin or even organic makeup. We all have different skin types, and we choose make up that suits our skin. Makeup that is meant for dry skin, sensitive skin, oily skin or even organic makeup products, they all contain chemicals. These chemicals should not be left on the face all through the day and then throughout the night. These chemicals stop the production of sebum, the naturally occurring moisturiser of your skin.
Easy ways to take off your makeup
Makeup removing wipes
These are pre-moisturised, and help you take the makeup off without any difficulty. They are easy to store, and you can keep some in your purse and they will come in handy even when you are travelling.
Micellar water
The French made this method of cleansing popular. It is a quick and easy way to get your makeup off as you do not have to rinse after using the micellar water. Micellar water has suspended oil-molecules which attracts and lifts the oil, dirt and makeup without too much rubbing.
Oil Cleansers
Oil attracts oil, and if you are the kind who loves heavy makeup and smoky eyes, a good oil cleanser is what you need. You can use this as the first step in a double cleansing routine, for cleaner skin!
