Skincare tips for the evening

While most of us give our skins a lot of care and attention in the mornings and at night before we hit the sack, we tend to ignore it in the evenings – the time when we transition from the work time to party time. Katrina Kaif’s skin is positively glowing at dusk, and with a little help, you can look just as radiant while making the transition from day to evening. Here are some tips.

Double-cleansing

Use an oil-based moisturiser, to remove the day’s oil-based impurities, pollution and make-up from the skin. It also makes sure that you don’t dry out your skin while cleansing it and strip it of natural oils. After this step, use a water-based cleanser to remove any remaining impurities from the skin, as well as the residue from the moisturiser. This cleans your skin completely, prepping it for the evening ahead.

Hydrating mask

Before you step out of the house in the evening, use a hydrating face mask as part of your skincare regimen. This is a booster shot for your skin to be nourished. A hydrating facemask also replenishes the skin with moisture that has been lost during the day, and paves the way for a smoother complexion, if you’re planning to party the night away.

Pre-party exfoliation

At least twice a week, preferably on those days when you need to step out, it is wise to have an exfoliation routine. Keep the ingredients light, gentle and natural – very coarse exfoliation may cause redness! Gentle exfoliation will take off the layer of dead skin cells, leaving you with a brighter and smoother complexion to face the evening ahead.

Finally…

Once your evening skincare regimen has been sorted, depending on whether you’re staying in or heading out, you’ll need to decide what to do. If you’re staying in, use a night serum and eye cream, and hit the sack early. If you’re heading out, get your skin makeup ready. Use a concealer to hide any acne or unseemly spots, apply CC cream instead of foundation, along with a moisturising lipstick and smudgy kohl. Keep your makeup smart – looking good, without damaging your skin.
