Walk Your Way To 100th Birthday

Older adults may be able to live longer, healthier lives by increasing physical activity that doesn’t have to be strenuous to be effective, says research by the American Heart Association. Say the researchers, finding a way to physically move more in an activity that suits your capabilities and is pleasurable is extremely important, especially for older people. The study has found that older adults are 67% less likely to die of any cause if they were moderately or vigorously physically active for at least 150 minutes per week. Each 30-minute interval of light-intensity physical activities, such as doing household chores or casual walking, is associated with a 20% lower risk of dying from any cause.
