Leisure Reading Improves Language Skills

A new study from the Concordia University shows that the more people read any kind of fiction, the better their language skills are likely to be. Researchers have found that people who enjoy reading fiction for leisure and who identify as a reader score higher on language tests, whereas those who read to access specific information score more poorly on the same tests. Says the study published in the journal ‘Reading and Writing’, any kind of fiction, even mass market stuff sniffily derided as pulp, can help better your language skills.
