Caveman therapy is a novel approach to treating depressive symptoms by embracing the healing habits of our ancestors. Research from the University of Kansas believes it could be more effective than either modern psychotherapy or antidepressant drugs. Essentially, the Therapeutic Lifestyle Change project suggests adopting six wellness elements from the ancient, hunter-gatherer lifestyle: Consuming more omega-3s (from oily fish), regular exposure to sunlight, increasing physical activity, making extensive social connections, obtaining more sleep, and engaging in activities to combat dwelling on negative thoughts.
