New Audley Parish Angling Club set to tackle past issues of vandalism and littering in pool areas
A NEW angling club is looking to hook in more members.
Audley Parish Angling Club has already attracted around 120 members since starting last August.
Now it is holding a meet-and-greet event at 10am tomorrow at the refurbished Clogger’s Pool, in Halmerend.
The nearby Bateswood Lake is the other area where the club members will be able to fish.
Club chairman Brian Billings, aged 67, of Audley, who leads a 12-strong committee, said: “The meet-and-greet is about showing people the progress that’s been made.
“The pools are within walking distance of each other and you can really see the difference at Clogger’s Pool because the paths have been relaid, it’s tidy and looks 100 per cent better than it was.
“We will look to limit the membership numbers to 150 in the first year and review it after that.
“Hopefully with people using it on a regular basis we can solve past issues like vandalism and people dropping litter.”
