Wiregrass students learn about jobs in the auto racing industry
Students in the industrial and technology programs at Wiregrass Georgia Tech got to get their hands on some real race cars and speak to experts in the industry about what jobs are available and what skills are required.
Adrian Hargett is one of those students.
“I’m actually trying to start my own auto shop; I want a one stop shop,” said Hargett.
But he admits, it may not happen as quickly as he originally thought it would. “I think it might take a little bit longer with the way the economy is; getting the loan, the business, the business plans, and the people to work in the shop. It might be a little more difficult,” explained Hargett.
That’s why events like this one are so valuable for students like him. “I feel like it will help me in my future career because eventually I wanna race cars myself and I guess meeting these guys could help get me started into the business,” Hargett pointed out.
Hargett isn’t too worried about finding a job in the business, but he wants to make sure he’s well prepared for whatever jobs the business has to offer.
“There are a lot of jobs out there, I just want to know everything before I get started in the industry.”
Having the race cars at Wiregrass Georgia Tech on Tuesday and being able to explore them with his own two hands will no doubt help him reach that goal.
